WWII Western L71 Seabee Knife Madrone Burl Orig. Blueing - Tang Stamp Pic Added

I am a metallurgist that loves nice knives and restoring those of high quality and historical significance.
This is a World War 2 Western L71 Seabee.  When I purchased it, some of the original leather spacers were gone, and those remaining were not in great shape. I was able to retain two of the original black spacers for end trim. I sanded the tang surfaces to 220 grit sandpaper to create a good bond surface.

- ORIGINAL with a little gunk I could not wipe off as I hate to remove
original blueing
. I hand cut, planed, and precision fit these beautiful madrone burl scales.  I always apply high strength, long setting Devcon epoxy to 100% of the wood as well as tang surfaces.  I then clamp secure and flush overnight until cured.  Pin holes were then drilled and solid pins were carefully driven.  Madrone burl, as with most burl, has open eyes and small inter-lace and eye voids which I fill with epoxy prior to final finishing. I contoured the handle and then sanded the wood to 4000 grit sandpaper. Multiple coats of Tru-Oil have been applied following the pre-epoxy coat. Pommel is original.  Old WW2 sheath included.
