Up for purchase is a vintage, hand-carved wooden Philippines Igorot tribe offering bowls. Probably teak wood or some other hardwood: heavy. This is a rare long-handle hand-carved wooden offering bowl or wine dipper, design of the Igorot tribe in the Philippines. These bowls, carved from a single piece of wood, probably represents a ceremonial or offering vessel, or even a mortar, formerly used by the headhunting Cordillera tribes of the Philippines (Igorot, Ifugao, etc.). The front and sides of the bowl depict a very detailed hollowed out human head with well-defined features, hair, headdress and hat.
The date is unknown but probably around the 1950s, although it could be from an earlier period. The striking features and unusual shape make this not only a conversation piece but a unique piece of tribal art. This Igorot tribe offering bowls are in  good vintage condition with age-appropriate wear and great patina. There is a good bit of wear adequate to the age.
