A Macabre Tribal Headhunter Wood Carved Statue, Philippines, c.1960. This statue is absolutely monumental in size and full of details throughout - It stands nearly 3ft tall. This statue is carved of a solid wood, likely a tropical hardwood. The deep finish shows a stunning ebonized grain around. The piece displays a power image of a tribal headhunter, holding its prized decapitation with the torso shown at his feet. The tribal man holds a long sword, which can be removed. Despite the statues strange proportions, it stands sturdy. The underside is unmarked of signed.
Condition:
This piece is in very good condition with mild surface scratches shown. Natural splits in the wood are shown on the tribal figures back as well as a good repair to the swords blade
