Unique Stein of Classic Scene
King, Queen, Castle, River, Swan Boat
ITEM:
Unique stein featuring a classic scene we believe to be King Arthur and Queen Guinevere standing by a river below their castle.  An elegant white swan with a crown around its neck is towing a boat across the river. The weary queen rests her head on her gallant king's shoulder his silver luster chain mail shirt and crown glistening. He carries a horn perhaps filled with beverage, a dagger in his belt and sword at his side. The handle side of the mug is stone covered hillside atop which their castle rests. The handle itself grows like a tree, its roots stretching downward and a branch sprouting from its top. The elegant lid is heavily embossed with flourish.
STYLE:
The entire design is in heavy embossed relief and/or in the case of the stream incised to add dimension.
MARK:
Unmarked! The may be a hand incised number "1" on the bottom or this may be a faint crease in the pottery. We have included a photograph.
SIZE:
The stein stands 12 1/2" tall, the base is 5" in diameter, the to is 4" in diameter with an opening of 3 1/8".
WEIGHT:
The stein weighs just over 3 pounds.
CONDITION:
The stein is in OUTSTANDING condition with no chips, cracks or restorations. There is minor wear to the finish. If held in your right hand the wear is where the left hand would hold on to the stein ie: at prow of the boat, across the bottom of the king's shirt and thru the mid point of the queens dress, etc.
