    Description

    This is a very old and very rare Solomon Islands chief's KAPKAP.
    What make this specimen important are the 4 human figures!
    Human ancestor figures are rarely seen on Kapkaps.
    The majority of Kapkaps have elaborate geometric designs, and some with stylized frigate birds...... but very few with human figures.
    It is also a very old specimen......c mid 19th century.
    Measures approx - 6 inches in diameter (larger than most specimens)...Superb craftsmanship! Nice yellowish old patina on shell. A real gem of a piece!
    ****ALL original condition - no restorations.
    Just minor old age related issues - scratches, few tiny chips here and there  - otherwise in remarkable condition for its old age!
