    Description

From the Bontoc people, North Luzon, Philippines. A very fine example of an  important article of Bontoc male tribal adornment.
    c.a 1900's
Maramba,   in FORM AND SPLENDOR, tells us that "Together with the boar's tusk   armlet, called tangkil, with which it was worn, the "boaya / binoboaya" was associated   with headhunting rites, ceremonies and dances. It was worn by Bontoc   males to denote a headhunter status meaning to rightfully wear it owner must have taken an enemy's head.
    Very RARE!
