    Description

    I don’t know a lot about this slit drum. It looks exactly like New Guinea slit drums I have seen so I am 99 percent sure it is exactly that. I got it at an estate sale and fell in love with the beautiful ornate way it was carved and great sounds that came out of it. It has a natural crack running length wise on it,but it may be there on purpose and certainly doesn’t affect the sound. The carvings look to be a lizard (likely a large monitor lizard) and either a tribal mask or a representation of a monkey. This is just a beautiful example of art and music in a perfect marriage. It is over two feet long and around 25 pounds. I don’t have the right setting for this and I hope to find it a good home. Hand Carved Very Ornate New Guinea Slit Drum. Shipped with USPS Priority Mail.
