Franz Joseph/Maria Theresa Austria Commemorative Stein, Hinged Lid/Raised Design

Description

Interesting pottery stein with hinged metal lid features a copper-colored medallion on one side of body with the image of Franz Joseph of Austria, and another copper-colored medallion on the other side of body with the image of Maria Theresa of Austria. Body has raised curlique and geometric designs and a raised gargoyle-like face. Inside of lid is marked with "DBGM" and bottom side is marked with "2002 1/2" and an additional mark that is mostly worn away, but looks like it was originally two lines, the first starting with "Orig..." We have no idea how old or young this piece is, or exactly where it was made. Measures 8-1/4" tall (top of lid to bottom of base) x 3" diameter at top of stein.
This is a used piece and shows significant signs of wear.
No chips or cracks, but lid is tarnished throughout and has multiple small pit marks in multiple spots. Both copper-colored medallions on body show visible tarnishing and also have multiple small pit marks and scratches. Visible scuff marks and scratches in multiple spots on body and inside, and heavy scratching to inside of lid. Visible scuffing to bottom side bottom rim. This piece will need a thorough cleaning.
