Antique late 19th century Philippine Kris Moro - Islamic dagger Â-Punal.
It is looks rich and probably belonged to a tribal leader. A sturdy double edged almost triangle steel blade, with a scrolling motif, engraved copper oval guard with elaborated copper ferrule, with large central knob, bone lobed pistol grip. In its original gilt copper scabbard made of water buffalo bone and brass with a suspension mount chased over its full surface with scrollwork.
In good condition overall, retains much gilt finish with minor wear. Fine age patina with signs of usage, this is one of the better examples of a Punal which I have encountered.
Overall length in its scabbard 10 1/4", blade is 5 1/4" long and 2 1/2" at the base.
